Wine Cellar Cooling Units in Canada: Where to Buy and What to Check
Where to buy the Wine-R WR2500 wine cellar cooling unit in Canada, what the 2-year warranty covers, and what to check before you order. Retailers by province.

Who this guide is for
Canadian homeowners and builders planning a residential cellar and deciding where to buy and what to check before ordering.
Who this guide is not for
Commercial cellars, and rooms with no interior wall to mount a unit through. Those need a custom quote from a refrigeration contractor.
The Wine-R WR2500 is sold in Canada through retailers in Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, and British Columbia, and the 2-year parts warranty covers Canadian owners the same way it covers US owners. It is a self-contained through-the-wall unit rated at 2,337 BTU/h, for cellars up to 700 ft³ (19.8 m³) with glass walls or 900 ft³ (25.5 m³) fully enclosed.
Before you order, three things decide whether a unit will work in your cellar: the size of the room against the unit, an interior wall to mount it through, and a room built to R-20 with a sealed vapor barrier. This guide covers where to buy in Canada, what the warranty requires, and the checks to make first. If you are still choosing between system types, read the buying guide.
Where to buy the WR2500 in Canada
Wine-R sells through Canadian retailers, so price and delivery are set by the store you buy from. The current list is on the retailers page. By province:
- Quebec: Vin et Passion (Brossard, Laval), Vinum Design (Montreal) and Vinum Grappa (Quebec City), Doyon Després (Brossard, Drummondville, Granby, Laval, Montreal, Quebec City, Sherbrooke, Trois-Rivieres), Tendance Cellier (Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu), and other regional cellar and glass specialists.
- Ontario: Wine Cave (Markham), Wine Cellar Solutions (Ottawa), Wine Cellar Creations (Whitby), and Doyon Després (Ottawa).
- Manitoba: Genuwine Cellars (Winnipeg).
- British Columbia: Blue Grouse (North Vancouver).
Prices are set by each retailer. If a builder is designing the cellar for you, ask them to quote the unit with the room, so insulation, the door, and the cooling are planned together.
What the Canadian warranty covers
The WR2500 has a 2-year parts warranty that applies in Canada and the United States. It covers the original buyer and is not transferable. Register the unit at wine-r.com/warranty within 30 days of purchase to activate it.
The warranty depends on a correct install. These conditions apply in Canada as they do in the US:
- A dedicated 115V/60Hz/15A circuit, with no shared load, extension cord, or switch-controlled outlet.
- R-20 insulation or better on all walls and the floor, with a continuous sealed vapor barrier.
- Double-pane sealed glass only. Single-pane glass voids the warranty.
- Residential use, installed in an interior wall.
- Service by an authorized technician only.
Questions before or after you buy go to Wine-R support.
Check these before you order
Room size. Measure the cellar in cubic feet or cubic metres: length times width times height. The WR2500 is positioned for up to 700 ft³ (19.8 m³) with glass walls, or 900 ft³ (25.5 m³) fully enclosed. The BTU calculator and the sizing guide turn that into a heat load you can check.
An interior wall. The unit installs through an interior wall only, between 5.5 and 14 inches thick (about 14 to 36 cm), and the opening is 15 5/8 by 9 1/4 inches (about 39.7 by 23.5 cm). The warm side must open into a conditioned room with room for air to move: at least 12 inches clear on the cellar side and 18 inches on the warm side. An exterior wall, a sealed closet, or an unventilated cabinet does not work.
Insulation and vapor barrier. The room needs R-20 on all walls and the floor with a continuous sealed vapor barrier. The slab floor and the foundation walls are the surfaces most often missed. The insulation and vapor barrier guide shows how to bring a room up to that level.
The drain. The WR2500 requires a condensate drain line: a 3/8 in ID hose on a continuous downward slope to a drain or condensate pump. If the run is longer than about 5 feet or has to rise, plan a pump and a pro.
Humidity. The unit does not control humidity. The room's construction does.
Frequently asked questions

Yes. The 2-year parts warranty covers Canada and the United States, for the original buyer. Register within 30 days at wine-r.com/warranty to activate it.
For the WR2500, a dedicated 115V/60Hz/15A circuit with nothing else on it, the same requirement as in the US.
The WR2500 is positioned for up to 700 ft³ (19.8 m³) with glass walls, or 900 ft³ (25.5 m³) fully enclosed. Larger rooms, or rooms with a lot of glass, need a direct heat-load calculation.
No. It goes through an interior wall into a conditioned room. If the only wall available is exterior, a ducted or split system is the better fit.
About this information
This content is general information for owners evaluating wine cellar cooling options. It is not a diagnosis of any specific unit and not a recommendation to repair or replace any product. Wine-R is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any other manufacturer referenced on this page. All third-party product names and trademarks are the property of their respective owners and are used for identification and compatibility reference only. Third-party specifications come from publicly available manufacturer information and may change without notice. Compatibility with an existing opening does not by itself confirm suitability: cooling capacity must be validated against the cellar's size and construction, and the WR2500 requires a condensate drain line and a dedicated 115V/60Hz/15A circuit. Fit and sizing are confirmed through Wine-R's pre-validation process before any unit ships.
Liability and warranty considerations
The WR2500 is sold under Wine-R’s Terms of Sale and Limited Warranty. Wine-R’s warranty covers unit parts for two years from the original purchase date.
Warranty coverage is voided by, among other conditions:
- Damage from improper installation, poor insulation, or oversized or unsealed rooms
- Use of extension cords, switch-controlled outlets, or non-dedicated circuits
- Use of single-pane or non-insulated glass in the cellar envelope
- Installation through an exterior wall, into a sealed cavity, or into an unventilated cabinet
- Service performed by anyone other than Wine-R or a Wine-R authorized technician
- Condensate drain not installed to the published requirements (3/8 in ID, continuous downward slope, pump where required)
Pre-validation by Wine-R confirms unit fitment against declared measurements only. The owner or installer is responsible for envelope construction, wall structural assessment, electrical compliance, drainage routing, and ongoing operating conditions. Wine-R is not liable for incidental, consequential, special, or indirect damages, including damage to property or to the contents of the wine cellar, arising from installation, site conditions, or operating environment. See the Terms of Sale.
